If you have been caught speeding, you will lose demerit points off your licence. The number o
f demerit points you have depends on the licence that you hold.
- Red P Plate drivers have a maximum of 4 demerit points.
- Green P Plate drivers have a maximum of 7 demerit points.
- Full licenced drivers have a maximum of 13 demerit points.
Exceed Speed limit by 0-10km per hour
- If you are on your red or green p plates and you exceed the speed limit by 0-10 km p/hr you will be fined $243 and lose 4 demerit points.
- If you are a full licenced driver and exceed the speed limit by 0-10 km p/hr you will be fined $313 and lose 1 demerit point.
Exceed Speed Limit by 11-20km per hour
- If you are on your red or green p plates and exceed the speed limit by 11-20 km p/hr you will be fined $417 and lose 4 demerit points.
- If you are a full licenced driver and exceed the speed limit by 11-20 km p/hr you will be fined $243 and a lose 4 demerit points.
Exceed Speed Limit by 21-30km per hour
- If you are on your red or green p plates and exceed the speed limit by 21-30 km p/hr you will be fined $799 and lose 5 demerit points.
- If you are a full licenced driver and exceed the speed limit by 21-30 km p/hr you will be fined $521 and lose 5 demerit points.
Exceed Speed Limit by 31-45km per hour
- If you are on your red or green p plates and exceed the speed limit by 31-45 km p/hr you will be fined $2,154 and lose 6 demerit points.
- If you are a full licenced driver and exceed the speed limit by 31-45 km p/hr you will be fined $1,008 and lose 6 demerit points.
Exceed Speed Limit by over 46km per hour
- If you are on your red or green p plates and exceed the speed limit by 46+ km p/hr you will be fined $2,296 and lose 7 demerit points.
- If you are a full licenced driver and exceed the speed limit by 46+ km p/hr you will be fined $2,296 and lose 7 demerit points.
